Bike To Create a World Free of MS

  • Sharebar

You probably didn’t know this, but for the past few years I have sponsored a Team in the MS150 Bike to the Bay for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.  I am a sponsor again this year, and in late June the same great group of guys that rode last year (+ one) will do it again. The Chain Breakers Team

The Team is called the Chain Breakers (original, huh?) and was formed specifically with the MS150 in mind.  We are a team of 8 friends who enjoy riding and have found a way to make our riding count.

Please do not feel obligated to donate, but please peruse my personal page or the team page at the links after this message.  If you are so inclined to give, you should be happy to know that you can and are making a difference.

Our team members (in no particular order): Josh Simon, Dan Umfleet, Ted Spitulski, Steve Johnson, John Schlageter, Jeff Schalk, Glenn Soldner, and “the Captain” Don Geldien. (No…I’m not in the picture. I wasn’t able to ride last year.)

Check out our jerseys…

Why We Fight MS

Having multiple sclerosis means that you may suddenly have blurry vision. Or that your memory will fail you for no apparent reason. Or that you may not always be able to walk, let alone ride a bike. The symptoms of MS are different, and devastating, for everyone – the only certainty is that it will affect yet another person every hour of every day.

Why I Ride

I’ve registered for the Bike MS Event because it combines two things I feel strongly about…exercise and helping others achieve optimal health. I want to do something for the people who have been diagnosed – and because I want to do everything to prevent more people from learning what it means to live with this disease. Today, there is no cure for multiple sclerosis, and with diagnosis occurring most frequently between the ages of 20 and 50, many individuals face a lifetime filled with unpredictability.

Plus…I want to show my love and support for those close to me that have been affected by this terrible disease, including my “Aunt” Kar, close friend Aron, and others.

Why You Should Sponsor Me

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society will use funds collected from the Bike MS Event to not only support research for a cure tomorrow, but also to provide programs which address the needs of people living with MS today. Because we can fight this disease by simply riding a bike, because we have chosen to help thousands of people through a contribution to the Bike MS, we are now getting closer to the hour when no one will have to hear the words, “You have MS.”

Thanks for your support,

Pete
